The Banners bucket

Building out

A singular promotional object that always resolves to exactly one event, placed in a block to promote a single subject. Its media defines the background container: the block sits on its media, which becomes the surface. That is the distinction from a full-width Card, where the media is always a discrete container, stacked or side by side, never the background. A Banner may be dynamic in which event it shows ("next upcoming event") but never in how many. Grouped by container; Letterbox is the first.

02

Model

  • The media is the background. A Banner's media defines the container it sits on, so the block has no separate surface behind it. This is the inverse of a Hero, whose section media shows behind a transparent block, and the distinction from a full-width Card, whose media is a discrete container, stacked or side by side.
  • Cardinality is singular (event). A Banner asks "which one?" and returns one object. A full-width listing returning one result can look identical, but a Listing asks "which set?". Only cardinality distinguishes them.
  • Grouping axis is the designed set. provisional Defined once the designs settle.
  • Status. In design.
